SK8ART - Vilna Edition by NYC Artist, Steve Marcus
Using the skateboard deck as a canvas, New York City artist, Steve Marcus’ newest exhibition, SK8 Art: Vilna Edition includes new designs he created especially for The Vilna Gaon Museum of Jewish History and seamlessly incorporates them into the existing collections of skateboard decks from previous successful and well received exhibitions entitled, From the Old Country to the Plains, Kosher Pop SK8 Art at The Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2024 and Jewish Quarter Pipe, Kosher Pop Sk8 Art exhibited at the Galicia Jewish Museum in Krakow, Poland in 2023 - 2024. His unique style, inspired by cartoons and underground comics explores the themes of tradition, spirituality and local Jewish history in a fun and refreshingly accessible approach to contemporary Jewish art that is masterfully showcased on whimsical and thought-provoking skateboard decks. The exhibit in its totality expresses his own personal journey of transition and change and new beginnings that he hopes mesmerizes the viewer and has the power to spiritually and intellectually inspire. Marcus contributed to the counterculture before his own midlife renewal and creating art for skateboard decks combines his passion for Rabbinical studies, Jewish culture while paying homage to his rebel youth.

Psychedelicatessen: A Powerful Dose of Art by Steve Marcus
Take a long, strange trip into NYC artist, Steve Marcus’ cartoon universe of kosher folk art with a new series of works of Jewish pop art inspired by a fusion the psychedelic hippie culture of the 1960s, Judaism and Jewish Culture. Marcus’ hand drawn works on paper and handmade objects are colorful and comical flashbacks that take the viewer on a mystical tour on the magic bus down an irreverent, fun and insightful road that reveal his quirky sense of humor and his passion for his own roots and culture. Marcus’ new project seamlessly marries his Jewish spirituality with his past involvement in the counterculture and the cannabis reform movement, putting a modern spin on Jewish subjects and life that form alternative culture classics for new generations of modern Jews. Turn on, tune in, drop in and enjoy, laugh, and space out on Steve Marcus’ kabbalistic Jewish artwork inspired by underground comics, Hasidism and the psychedelic art of the free love era.
